Woody H. and his wife live in Houston, Texas, as empty nesters. The father of two healthy adults - a daughter and a son, Woody is determined to stay in touch with his family virtually and when they can travel together. He also enjoys watching sports and playing board games, as well as running a small business that publishes board games.
Woody is also a volunteer for a patient advocacy and support group and visits CSL Plasma and other centers in the Houston area. His life is affected by Common Variable Immune Deficiency (CVID), and his body does not produce antibodies that a healthy person would. A primary immune deficiency disease, CVID is characterized by low levels of protective antibodies and an increased risk of infections.
“Before treatment, I used to get frequent recurring bacterial infections in my sinuses and lungs. I was diagnosed when I was 33, and I can safely say that without plasma-based therapies I would not be alive today,” shares Woody.
“Plasma-based treatment gives my immune system a fighting chance against all kinds of bacteria and viruses, most of which barely affect people with normal immune systems.”
He wants plasma donors to know that your time and donated plasma are improving his quality of life and keeping him alive. Woody shares, “You are amazing. You are my front-line responders.”
To CSL Plasma employees, he also says thank you: “I trust you with my life, and you continue to deliver.”
